New Moon In Sagittarius
Astrology by Lisa Stardust
The New Moon in Sagittarius occurs on December 1, 2024. This lunation brings out our emotions and propels us to fight for freedom. Breaking from tradition and the past is hard, especially when the planets ask us to pause before proceeding in any direction.
Action-oriented Mars in Leo, restrictive Saturn in Pisces, and the Nodes of Destiny on the Aries-Libra axis connect with the New Moon in Sagittarius.
A push-and-pull effect occurs between the planets, creating a sensation that we are being pulled back in the opposite direction for every step we take forward. Even though Mars infuses the New Moon with enthusiasm and vigor, Saturn limits progress, which might prevent our plans and desires from taking flight. Han and Antares are two fixed stars that link up with the New Moon, giving us luck—but we must not self-sabotage to avoid unnecessary obstacles.
Mutual reception happens when two planets are in each other's signs of rulership. In this case, Mercury is retrograde in Sagittarius, while Jupiter is moonwalking in Gemini. Mercury rules the air sign Gemini, and Jupiter rules the fire sign Sagittarius. So, we can say that they empower each other. Being that both planets are retrograde, they are causing more frustrations, miscommunications, and irritability. The New Moon energizes the cosmos, giving us short fuses and tempers. It won’t take much to instigate or be the victim of freneticism, so we should stay in our lanes and not poke at others.
Additionally, the impending Mars retrograde in Leo, which commences on December 6, along with the ongoing backward march of Uranus in Taurus and Neptune in Pisces, and we get a lot of erratic, unpredictable, and frenetic energy. The celestial temperature is heating up, making us highly irritable. Why? Because we want situations and relationships to move swiftly. However, the retrograde planets are holding us all back from making leaps forward. The lesson is to be in the moment, and the objective is to reflect. Then, we can decide what we want and how to attain it.
The New Moon and other intergalactic forces are urging us to find a middle ground in matters. Having the last word may be desirable but not helpful. Instead of expressing ourselves dramatically, use this moment to set boundaries and let others become aware that we are stronger than we know. The ultimate leverage is the power to walk away and to love ourselves. The ultimate flex is showing, not telling, that we are the most important people in our lives and not settling for anything less than what we want or deserve.
Ritual For The New Moon In Sagittarius
Ritual by Bri Luna
Embrace the transformative energy of the Sagittarius new moon with a calming bath ritual designed to cleanse negativity and restore balance and peace.
Begin by creating a serene atmosphere in your bathroom. Dim the lights and light a few white candles to invite a peaceful atmosphere.
Fill your bathtub with warm water, inviting relaxation into your space. As the tub fills, add two cups of Epsom salt, known for its ability to draw out impurities and relieve tension. Incorporate a half cup of sea salt, which can enhance purification and grounding. This alone is perfect for aura cleansing if you’re feeling heavy or dense energies.
To infuse the water with calming properties, add essential oils like lavender, chamomile, or bergamot—each known for their soothing effects on the mind and body. As you add these oils, set an intention, such as, “I release negativity and invite peace into my life.” You are also welcome to use Florida water.
Once the bath is ready, gently ease yourself into the warm water. Close your eyes and focus on your breath, inhaling deeply and exhaling slowly. Visualize any stress or negativity washing away, replaced by a sense of calm and balance.
Spend at least 20-30 minutes soaking, allowing the warmth of the water to soothe your nerves. You may wish to meditate or reflect on what you want to manifest during this new moon phase. When you’re ready, rinse off with cool water to seal in the positive energy and step out feeling rejuvenated and centered. This ritual not only cleanses your energy but also cultivates a sense of tranquility and balance as you move forward.
