The Solar Eclipse in Aries

Astrology by Lisa Stardust

The most significant and metamorphic moment of March is here! The upcoming solar eclipse is wrapping up the energy that began in 2023 when the North Node entered the fire sign. It allows us to close this chapter of our lives — but not without intense theatrics. With the ending of this cycle comes a chance to enhance our lives with fresh sentiments. The issue is that we might fight for things to stay the same. However, as you know, we must evolve and leave our comfort zones to grow as individuals.

The solar eclipse in Aries occurs on March 29 at 3:58 AM PT and 6:58 AM ET. It connects with Jupiter in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius, meaning the desire to control and win will consume our minds. The lesson is that we can't always get everything we want, but we don't need much to satisfy our spirits. We have everything we need — if we do not feel that way, it’s time to let go and bring in fresh energy. Personal satisfaction and glory are a must.

The fixed star Algenib urges us to proceed with caution to prevent unfortunate moves. Words of advice: Avoid impulsive movements and be strong-willed during the eclipse. They will hurt the outcome of the lunation. Let situations naturally unravel, and then take action.

The same day, Mercury swings back into Pisces, making us tired and causing brain fog. Mercury's retrograde aligns with Neptune (the elusive planet switches signs the following day, after being in Pisces for thirteen years), heightening this matter. Mercury retrograde in Pisces relies on intuition, but our sentiments could be slightly off, urging us to fight for gut feelings that are projecting and not asserting the actual truth. The flip side is that Neptune could push us to believe in deceptive situations and people, as we might opt to wear rose-colored glasses to avoid confrontation.

Mars, the planetary ruler of Aries, is in its post-retrograde zone until May 2. With Mars retroshade in the water sign Cancer, we can expect to take on a lethargic, emotional, and temperamental stance during the solar eclipse. We will want to protect our interests and hearts at all costs. Review the ventures that began in September 2024 (when Mars first entered Cancer before the retrograde that started on December 6 and lasted until February 23) and think about whether or not. Now is the second coming of those projects. Use the knowledge and insights gained during Mars retrograde to navigate through decision-making and to help us come to somewhat of a conclusion.

Tread lightly during Mercury and Venus's retrograde. The effects of these two planets backspinning during the time of the solar eclipse could make us anxious, paranoid, and like a big ball of stress. Before reacting and becoming defensive (we might feel attacked by others), take a moment to breathe and calm down before proceeding. Doing so requires patience, which will be hard to attain since Aries isn't known to have the chillest attitude. Therefore, counting backward from 10 to 0 is vital to take the edge off. Also, the two retrogrades might create confusion and false drama, so triple-check the news and findings.

All in all, the solar eclipse marks a time when we embrace our power and destiny. Since two planetary moonwalks occur during the eclipse, give it a few weeks to see what comes to fruition. Retrogrades tend to slow down the aftershocks of the eclipse, so be careful. We shouldn't compare ourselves to others to avoid arguments and embrace our fabulousness. Don't let anyone bring you down — remember, you are the most incredible person. Embrace your confidence to rise above the pettiness because it is beneath you.
