The Sturgeon Supermoon in Aquarius
Astrology by Lisa Stardust
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A FULL MOON?
The Sun and Moon oppose each other in the sky, while the Earth resides in between the two planets. The juxtaposition and position of the planets create a glowing effect on the Moon that makes it look brighter than ever from the Earth’s perspective. Being that July 13 brings a Supermoon (the most major one of the year), it brings the Moon closer to Earth which will make the lunation appear bigger and more vibrant than ever.
WHAT DOES IT REPRESENT?
The full moon represents the culmination of the 30-day lunar cycle. All of the projects that we’ve been working on for the past month reach an ending or hit a pivotal turning point. Change and growth have happened. Now is the time to reflect and enjoy the fruits of our labors.
WHEN DOES AUGUST’S FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS OCCUR?
The Full Moon occurs at 6:36 PM PT and 9:36 PM ET.
HERE'S WHERE THE STURGEON MOON GETS ITS NICKNAME.
This lunation got its name from the abundance of sturgeon fish available in Lake Champlain and The Great Lakes at this time in the year.
WHAT DOES THE FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS MEAN, ASTROLOGICALLY SPEAKING?
The Aquarius supermoon links up with Saturn retrograde in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus. Saturn is the traditional ruler of Aquarius, while Uranus is the modern planetary ruler of the air sign. When the Leo Sun, Aquarius Moon, Saturn in Aquarius, and Uranus in Taurus collide — followed by a harsh square from the Nodes of Destiny on the Taurus-Scorpio axis, we are feeling lost, frustrated, fearful of the future, and extra sensitive.
Fortunately, the Full Moon also connects with the healing centaur Chiron, nurturing Ceres, and passionate Eris. These asteroids add flavor to the lunation and give us the opportunity to focus on how we can evolve as people. With a little self-love and kindness, we can become the best versions of ourselves. Connecting with close friends and family will allow us to be seen and understood. They can protect us while soothing our frustrations by being a shoulder to cry on.
WHAT RITUALS SHOULD YOU DO DURING THE FULL MOON?
Connect with a humanitarian cause that you believe in. Giving our time to the greater good will help in healing our wounds and heartaches, as we are using our energy for the greater good.
Be still in the moment. Don’t take on too much right now, as it may be overwhelming. Start being present by meditating and focusing on your personal aspirations and hopes.
Don’t dwell on the past. Look to the future. Think about what positive things are coming into your life and relish in the excitement of all these possibilities.
