New Moon In Aquarius 2025

Astrology by Lisa Stardust

The first New Moon of 2025 occurs on January 29 at 4:36 AM PT and 7:36 AM ET during the Lunar New Year. A  New Moon begins another 28-day cycle (until we have the next New Moon in a different sign). It is a great time to start projects, go on a first date, or rebuild the spark within existing relationships. While all this is exciting to read, remember that “new” isn’t necessarily better. It can also bring endings because, technically, it’s a different story from the past.

This particular luminary will bring unexpected changes our way — all of which we didn’t see coming. Rebellious Uranus is the modern ruler of the zodiac sign Aquarius, so we must note that this planet currently resides in Taurus and is retrograde until January 30. Therefore, our objectives might be slow to come to fruition.

Jupiter retrograde in Gemini is pushing the Moon to grow and expand — a sentiment we will welcome. The possibilities seem endless, even though we won’t see the results from the fruits of our labors now. The energy may bring our dreams to fruition by allowing us to manifest our visions. The caveat is that we may be uncertain about what we want to create and receive from the universe. To get abundance, it’s essential to have a clear plan. Luckily, Jupiter gives us the energy to go after our innermost aspirations. Overall, it’s a magical day in which we can shoot for the stars and land beyond our expectations in the future.

On the same day, Mercury and Pluto connect in Aquarius, adding an edge to our emotions. We’ll crave intimacy and loyalty from others, and people will require it from us. Power struggles can come into play if we decide to use control and manipulation to achieve our goals.

The asteroid Vesta, in Scorpio, squares the New Moon, bringing intensity and drama. Vesta aims to protect the home, family, and spirituality. The asteroid will fight for their beliefs. In Scorpio, Vesta searches for truth, justice, and desire. When Vesta aspects the New Moon, it’ll make a splash in trying to safeguard what we find sacred. Fortunately, the star Albali brings optimism to the New Moon, so we will have a positive outlook and experience from the information we receive.

New Moon Ritual: Igniting Change

Find a quiet area where you can focus. Dim the lights and light a blue candle to represent the innovative energy of Aquarius.

Take a few moments to breathe deeply. Reflect on what you want to manifest in this new lunar cycle. Write down your intentions on a piece of paper, focusing on themes of freedom, innovation, and community.

Tear the paper into small pieces, symbolizing the release of limiting beliefs and patterns. As you tear, say aloud what you are letting go of.

Safely burn the torn pieces in a fireproof bowl or outdoor space, visualizing the smoke carrying away your old energy and making room for new possibilities.

Speak your intentions aloud, affirming your commitment to embrace change and transformation.

Close the Ritual: Allow the candle to burn for a while as you meditate on your intentions. When finished, thank the Universe and your guides for their guidance and support.
