Cancer New Moon
Astrology by Lisa Stardust
July 20th brings the second Cancer New Moon of 2020. The first one was the solar eclipse on June 20th PST and June 21st EST. Like the solar eclipse, this luminary is full of raw and intense emotions too. We will face challenges like never before, as emotional restrictions may force us to change the path we are currently on.
A New Moon occurs when the Sun and the Moon connect in the sky. Usually, they mark a time of new beginnings. But, given that Saturn, which is now retrograde, has a big impact on this luminary, we can say that it's time to reassess a different direction for an old dream, plans, or relationship. Saturn, who is currently retrograde in Capricorn, will directly oppose the New Moon at the same degrees. This means that both the Sun and the Moon will be in exact aspect as Saturn retrograde. All three planets will line up hours after the New Moon. The degree of Saturn that’s being opposed by the New Moon is at the same place Saturn was at in the end of February 2020. Now, we are revisiting that time with a different perspective and trying to make good on our emotional promises.
When the Sun (which signifies our ego), the Moon (which signifies our emotions), and Saturn (which signifies limitations) come together, we can expect to feel as though we aren’t being seen or understood by others. The juxtaposing energy will make us feel stuck with no way out or as though we haven’t made any progress in our endeavors during the past six months.
We’ll be cosmically pushed to step aside from emotional situations and question the future. We will ask ourselves if it’s worth continuing, and how it can sustain itself going forward. If you choose to go your own way and forge your own path, then stick to your decision. If you choose to work things out with others, then you may not be prepared for how much energy and patience it will take. Winning takes perseverance.
No matter what road you choose, be kind to others. Don’t project insecurities onto those who are not at fault because it will create bigger conflicts and drama than expected,
For this luminary, a ritual bath to gain clarity or detox the mind will help us find our desires and passions — even if Saturn is in the way.
